College of Educational Sciences, Yan’an University was established in May 2003 based on an integration of the educational resources of the Center of Modern Educational Technology, Teaching and Research Office of Pedagogy. Her foundation filled in a gap of educational discipline in our university.
There are three undergraduate programs and one graduate program in this college. The program of educational technology was established in 2003, the certificate program of educational technology was opened in 2004, the program of applied psychology was established in 2005, the program of Pedagogy (primary education) was established in 2006, and the graduate program of Curricula and Didactics began to recruit students in 2007. The present student population is over 370.
The college has 34 faculty and staff members. Among the faculty, there are three professors, seven associate professors, eight lecturers, six assistant lecturers and twelve part-time teachers.
The college has three teaching and research offices: educational technology, applied psychology, and pedagogy; three laboratories: Educational Technology, Film and Video, and Basic Psychology; a Laboratorial Center of Modern Educational Technology; a Production Center for Film and Video; a Basic Education Research Center; a Psychological Consulting Center; and an Information and Material Room.
During the past four years, faculty of this college have undertaken ten provincial and ministerial research projects, over 20 provincial departmental and university research projects, published over 200 research papers, seven books, and won over 20 various awards.
The college perseveres in the guiding thought in schooling, “teachers as a strong base, and enhance talents first.” This philosophy puts teachers in the lead role, focusing on development of the students and striving to be a teaching-type college with coordinated development of three disciplines. All of this is make the college an important base of educational and psychological talents in Northern Shaanxi or even the whole Shaanxi Province, while making significant contributions to the development of regional economy and culture.
