General Situation of the College of Literature and Journalism
The College of Literature and Journalism was established in 1985. Its structure of programs is the most comprehensive in terms of the levels of study, and its student population is the biggest among the student populations of YAU colleges. Its schooling is among the most prestigious. Currently, the college has one graduate program of Modern and Contemporary Literature, four undergraduate programs of Chinese Language and Literature Education, Secretarial Science, Journalism, and Broadcasting and Television Journalism, as well as one program of Higher Vocation of Secretarial Science and Office Automation. The college has over 1200 students on campus, and its student recruitment has extended into over twenty provinces and regions, including Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Heibei, Henan, Xinjiang, Hunan, and Zhejiang. The continuing education segment of the college maintains strong momentum. Starting from a two -year junior college class on campus in 1982, the continuing education segment has expanded into various forms, including full-time study, correspondence courses, and night school at junior and senior undergraduate levels. Correspondence bachelor’s programs and junior undergraduate programs are also offered in Chinese language and literature, secretarial science, and new literature within the continuing education segment. At present, the continuing education student population is over 1600, which is the biggest among the student populations of all YAU colleges.
