Selection Regulation for Huazang Scholarship of Yan’an University

I. Prerequisites for Competition
1. Loving the socialist motherland, and abide by the state laws and regulations as well as the disciplines and regulations of the university; loving the Alma Mater, and having not punished by the university at the level above circulated criticism;
2. Excellent results of comprehensive examinations;
3. Studying diligently, lucubrating assiduously, and the study achievements of the year are among the first 10% of the class, and there are not any taken courses to be retaken;
4. The results of physical education are qualified, and being active in various recreation activities;
5. Those who have published voluble academic papers in domestic and/or international professional academic journals or have been commended and rewarded bat the level above provincial level should be given priority. 。
II. Scope of Rewarding
All common students enrolled above grade two (including grade two) are qualified to apply for this scholarship.
III. Quota and Bonus
Rewarding 18 students each time, and 100 US dollars per person (exchanging into RMB by the exchange rate at the time).
IV. Schedule and Procedure
Selection begins in every October. Students apply first, then college (department) selection groups deliberate and recommend, which should be examined by the Teaching Affairs Office, and the awards and certificates are issued after the university approves.
V. The Student Life Office is in charge of the daily work of the selection of Huazang Scholarship, assisted by the Foreign Affairs Office.
Regulation for Selection of Three-Good Students, Outstanding Student Cadres, and Rewarding of People’s Scholarship

In order to encourage large numbers of students to study diligently, to make progress actively, to become useful people healthily, and to develop all-round in morality, intelligence, and health, and promote establishment of good studying and school atmosphere, we hereby formulate this regulation.
I. Scope of Application
This regulation is applied to all the enrolled common bachelor students after the grade of 2005 (including grade 2005). The original regulation is applied to students before grade of 2005.
II. Schedule and Proportion of Selection, and the Awards
Selection of Three-Good students, outstanding student cadres, and for People’s Scholarship is carried out in every October. Three-Good students are selected in accordance with 8% of the applicants of each college or department; outstanding student cadres are selected in accordance with 5% of the applicants of each college or department; outstanding student cadres of the university Student Union are selected in accordance with 5% of the total number of the student cadres of the Student Union; the university People’s Scholarship is divided into three classes, and the first class, second class and third class scholarships are rewarded to 5%、15%、30% of the students of each program respectively. The first class scholarship is of 1500 yuan, the second class scholarship is of 1000 yuan, and the third class scholarship is of 500 yuan. There is also a single item scholarship, which is of 200 yuan.
III. Prerequisites for Selection
i. Prerequisites for Three-Good students
1. Good ideology and morality. Loving the motherland, serving the people, having acquired strong socialist faith, sticking to the Four Basic Principles, studying Marxism, Leninism and Mao Zedong thought, studying Deng Xiaoping theory and the important thought of Three Representations, and arming mind with the scientific concept of development. Good moral trait, being concerned about the collective, uniting with schoolmates, and taking pleasure in serving others. Actively participating in all the activities organized by the university and the department, and being a model in observing the rules and regulations of the university. Having not been punished by the university above the level of circulated criticism, and results of comprehensive examinations are in the first 40% of the class.
2. Studying well. Loving the chosen program, definitely oriented in study, with correct attitude, studying diligently, thinking independently, and being pushful in innovation. No failure in examinations, and the studying (including physical education) is ranked among the first 30% of the class.
3. Good health. Physical fitness, persevering in taking morning exercises, and actively participating gin extracurricular activities, and various physical activities organized by the university.
ii. Prerequisites for Outstanding Student Cadres
1. As the same as Items 1, 2, and 3 for Three-Good students.
2. Prominent working performance. Being active and initiative in the undertaken job, strongly responsible, good at uniting with schoolmates, enthusiastically serving schoolmates, setting an example by actions, bearing the burden of responsibilities without complaint, with notable working performance.
iii. Selection requirements for the People’s Scholarship
Based on Items 1 and 3 of the selection prerequisites for Three-Good students, winners of the first class scholarship should be among the first 10% of the class in study, and there should not be any failure in all the courses. Winners of the second-class scholarship should be among the first 30% of the class in study. Students among the last 30% of the class in study, and among the last 20% in comprehensive examinations cannot participate in competition for the third class scholarship. Three-Good students and outstanding student cadres should win the first and second-class scholarships.
iv. Winners of single item scholar refer to the students who perform prominently in one aspect of study, physical education, arts, and social work, and are ranked well in one of the competitions, contests, and examinations at or above provincial level, or have published research papers in journals above provincial level. Those who have won the People’s Scholarship will not enjoy single item scholarship.
V. Requirements for Selection
i. Under the unified leadership of the leading group for selection, colleges should persevere in the principle of openness, fairness, and equality, be earnest and responsible, and strictly check the quality so as to make the selection reach th expected goals. Publicize the list of winners to the whole college, and report to the university for verification after receiving no objection.
ii. Winners of scholarship should make persistent efforts, and strive hard continuously. If the winners do not make further progress, and violate disciplines and regulations of the university, the university will revoke the certificates and awards, and impose disciplinary punishment in accordance with the situation.
V. Recommendation and Rewarding
i. Outstanding student cadres and Three-Good students should fill out the form for advanced deeds, which will be included in their personal files.
ii. The university issues certificates and scholarship to Three-Good students, outstanding student cadres, and winners of scholarship, and recommend them.
VI. This regulation is to be interpreted by the Teaching Affairs Office.
VII. This regulation begins to be implemented on September 1, 2006.
